I'm Wendy Bower Catalano, and I founded Last Look Editorial and have been its Chief
Verbal Strategist (clever, right?) or "CVS" since 2005. In that time I've worked with
authors, students, publishers, web designers, business owners, and book packagers on
editorial projects from A-Z. My team of collaborators and I work either together or
individually, depending on the needs of each client. We're based in the greater Boston
area, but have worked with clients from all over the United States and beyond. I look
forward to learning how we can help you!
See below for testimonials from some of our wonderful clients.

Proposal for Indexing of Ms.
From : Ronald & Elizabeth Epp

Subject Proposal for Indexing of Ms.
2 attachments
To : wendy@lastlookeditorial.com
Dear Ms. Catalano:
I am interested in discussing with you the feasibility of Last Look Editorial Services providing indexing and copy editing
services for my completed manuscript.
I've attached a copy of the prospectus and first chapter SO that you can some idea of the task at hand. Your location in the
greater Boston area has much to do with my approaching you since the manuscript tells for the first time the fascinating
story
of George Bucknam Dorr (1853-1944), the founder and first administrator of Acadia National Park. Born into a patrician
Boston family, he graduated from Harvard and later counted its president, Charles W. Eliot, his partner--along with John D.
Rockefeller Jr.--in developing the donated coastal Maine landscapes of Mount Desert Island. A pioneer in the conservation
movement, his development of Acadia foreshadowed the environmental movement.
I found joy in the research, labored through the writing, and now feel spent. I would like to use my financial resources to
have the 95,000 word--heavily end-noted--manuscript proofread and indexed. It has been edited by several hands including
my own but as a former managing editor of a scholarly journal, I'm too close to this manuscript to be a suitable editor for it.
I've approached quite a few academic publishers to no avail. They claim that there is no market for it.
The manuscript was completed nearly two years ago at a time when we had retired from New Hampshire to south central
Pennsylvania. Within two months, my wife was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and all my attention was directed
at her care. Elizabeth passed away in January. Friends in Maine and Massachusetts with whom I've worked on this project
for more than a decade, encouraged me to see the project through to publication, especially since the 2016 centennial of the
National Park Service--and the establishment of Acadia--is drawing near.
Please email me when you have considered this proposal and we can arrange a time to talk by phone.
Thank you for your consideration.

To Ronald & Elizabeth Epp
Dear Dr. Epp,
Thank you so much for your email and your interest in my services. I am actually originally from the Philadelphia area,
but after coming to Boston for college I settled just north of the city and have been here for nearly 30 years. I would
normally have replied to you the same day, but I was out of town overnight and haven't checked email since Saturday
morning.
This sounds like a fascinating project and I look forward to looking over the material you sent. I'll take a look at the
prospectus and the first chapter tonight, and get back to you in the morning with my thoughts, if that's okay. I think it's
a
wise decision to allow another mind and set of eyes to do the proofing and indexing, and I agree that it can be very
difficult to edit one's own work. Once we talk, if it sounds like a good match I would be honored to work on this project
with you, as the environmental movement is close to my heart.
Lastly, I am so sorry for the loss of your wife. Hopefully the process of seeing this project through proves to be helpful
and cathartic (and something she would be pleased that you're doing, I imagine).
I'll be in touch tomorrow. Thanks again.

The Making of Acadia National Park (Follow-Up)
From : Ronald & Elizabeth Epp

Subject : The Making of Acadia National Park (Follow-Up)
To : wendy@lastlookeditorial.com
Hi Wendy,
In reviewing our communication, I came across your address in Stoneham. It occurred to me that if I stayed on the Mass Turnpike to
I-95 North I could easily get off at exit 38 and travel south a few miles into Stoneham. Besides meeting you I could then continue
northeast on I-95 and exit easily into Newburyport, one of my favorite ":walk about" places. I'm nearly certain that I'll be passing
through greater Boston on the 9th. There is always the return trip as an option.
If this casts a different light on you availability, do let me know.
Most cordially,
Ron

Dear Wendy,
Good to hear from you.
Regarding a get together on my trip north, I'm still unsure about the exact date but it would be either the 10th or 11th of November,
which would interfere with your weekend.
But my travel plans are another likely obstacle. I'll be leaving the Hartford area early in the morning (on I-84) headed through
Worcester. I intended to work my way around Boston on I-495 and only merge onto I-95 when I was about to enter New Hampshire
along the Atlantic coastline. Dependent on your location, we also may be able to connect on the return trip, November 15th.
Let me know your thoughts on our joint effort to meet face-to-face.
Ron

Hi Ron,
Hey, that's great news!
Wishing you a speedy recovery, and if you'd like to meet for lunch on your way north, let me know - I'm close to Boston, and right on
I-95.

Dear Wendy,
Over the weekend, I received positive news. A conservation organization on Mount Desert Island has agreed to
publish The Making of Acadia National Park.
In early November I will drive there to work out the contractual details and time line. This trip is delayed because I
am now recovering from total knee replacement surgery in late July. I still have quite a ways to go via physical
therapy to recover my flexibility and stamina.
Be assured that I would like to retain you for the services we discussed earlier. After I return from MDI, I will get
back to you.
Thank you for your contiuuing interest.
All the Best,
