Hi Elly,
Good to to hear from you. Here are some images to help publicize my appearance in August. I'm attaching the book cover and a photograph taken by
FOA. You may wish to consult the FOA publications page for publicity information: https://friendsofacadia.org/news-publications/books/george-
dorr-biography/ I've also attached a copy of my C.V.
There is also an image library at :hhttp://www.acadiacentennial2016.org/about-acadias-centennial/media-resources/image-library/that was
put together for the Acadia Centennial celebration. You are welcome to use images from that library for related publicity; historic photos from the
Acadia National Park archives should be credited as indicated on that page.
The title of my talk is: "Writing about Conservation Giants: Two Decades of Living with Gorge Dorr, Charles W. Eliot, and J.D. Rockefeller Jr."
A
podium and microphone would be appreciated. I will bring along copies of the Dorr biography for sale following the event and signings, if that
is agreeable.
All best,
Ronald

Dear Elly,
Thanks for selecting "Writing about Giants," for August 3, 2016. Remember me again about the time.
Yes, I'll put together marketing information well in advance of the event.
That you volunteered for TTOR is interesting. I'd like to hear your impressions.
By the way, I'm currently reading a draft article that will appear in the next issue of Chebacco by Bar Harbor garden historian Betsy
Hewlett. She charts new territory in developing the MDI Landscape Gardening Culture, explaining how the nurserymen in Bar Harbor and
NE Harbor between 1880 and 1920 brought about a paradigm shift from traditional land and sea occupations to a new culture where
landscape design and property maintenance created new economic opportunities for local residents. Give her some consideration as a
ACP speaker. First rate! She is unaware that I am proposing this.
All the Best,.

Dear Ron,
Sorry not to get back to you sooner. After reading over your interesting introduction my choice be be "c"- Writing about the Giants.
(interestingly enough I volunteered at The Trustees of Reservations in MA for 15 years before I moved up (or down) to MDI. But, I am
open to your suggestion.
I have reserved August 3rd and have asked Hannah to scan and send the image you requested.
Eventually I will need an image for a poster and some PR info so I can write something for the newspapers. I will remind you closer to
the date.
Many thanks for your patience.
All the best,
Elly

Dear Elly,
I am beginning to draft talks that I will be giving on MDI next year and wondered whether you had yet reached a decision
on your preference among the topics that I suggested in my earlier message..
Also, will you pass along this message to Hannah. I'm curious about the array of Eliot Family documents and images in
your archives. Is there an inventory that I could consult?
All the Best,
Ronald Epp
